INTRODUCTION

 

The Internet and other media have made an amazingly rapid impact on communication on a world-wide basis. “Awesome” is a good word to describe its potential for instant feedback, two-way Communication, acquisition of information, opportunity for influence, and so on. Its popularity and fascination for people of all ages and backgrounds is undeniable. The idea is that all technological change is a trade-off. Technology gives and technology takes away.

 

1.                 TECHNOLOGY AND ITS IMPORTANCE IN SOCIETY

1.1.           The origin and different types of technology

1.2.           What does technology mean to us?

·     A means of productions/A tool to enhance lifestyle

·     Paying a price for technology

·     Unparalleled opportunities to escape from reality

1.3.           How does  entertainment industry and internet impact our lives through technology

·     Easy access to information through Internet/TV

·     Thin line between reality and fiction

·     Television as a standard of life - “All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits” (Proverbs 16:2).

1.4.           Advantages and Disadvantages

·     Physical advantages and disadvantages

·     Spiritual advantages and disadvantages

 

2.                 HOW DO WE WIN OVER WORLDLY LUSTS CAUSED BY TECHNOLOGY

·     Depart From Evil” (Prov; 3:7); - Recognizing our position

·     Turn away from doing evil; - Understanding who we are

·     Stay away from the evil man (vv. 31–35); - Reliance on God’s Word

·     Purity Of Mind And Unity Of Purpose;

·     The Intimate Friendship Of Jesus;

·     Imitating Christ And Despising All Vanities On Earth

 

3.                 HOW COULD TECHNOLOGY BENEFIT CHRISTIANS

·     New way of spreading the word of God

·     Communicating beyond congregations

·     Access to information/areas not reached before

·     Vehicle to the world and the majority

 4.                 CONCLUSION:

Philippians 4:4-9

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
